Turned from a big leaf maple burl taken from a street tree in Portland's Irvington neighborhood, then bleached until the wood went nearly to bone. The burl's dense clustering of eyes and swirls stays fully visible under the pale surface.
Fitted with an acrylic insert that holds water, so it takes fresh cuttings and flowers as easily as it stands on its own. Smooth and dry to the touch, quiet and stone-like.
