Spalted white oak, fumed. The heartwood became a deep chocolate brown while the sapwood darkened but stayed much lighter. The spalting and zone lines run only through the sapwood.
A hairline crack in the wall is stitched closed with waxed Irish linen thread, five stitches, left visible. Finished with food-safe walnut oil and wax.
