Turned from spalted big leaf maple, then erosion-textured, cut deepest in the band that runs around the bowl. The spalt's black lines thread through the worn surface. Inside, the wall is left smooth, a plain surface against the eroded outside, so the piece still reads as wood.
Sealed with a fixative to hold the fragile, weathered texture.
