Turned from big leaf maple with spalted, punky heartwood, then eroded and painted white. The sapwood was still sound and left as it was, a band of honey between the pale, worn body below and the tree's own bark cresting the rim.
Turned thin, and the erosion carried on until it went clear through in a couple of places. That's the process reaching its natural end. The interior is oiled and smooth, a quiet counter to the weathered wall around it.
