Big leaf maple, plain-grained and pale, from a tree in the West Hills of northwest Portland. A flaw in the wall was cut out and filled with a slat of mahogany, set across the rim and running down the inside and out.
A working bowl. The rim is undercut below and scooped along the top, so the hand finds a place to hold it whether the bowl is carried or set down. Finished with food-safe walnut oil and a light wax, buffed.
For the curious, the tree stood at 45°31'41.4"N 122°42'14.7"W.
Dimensions (approx.):
Ø: 13" (33 cm)
H: 4.75" (12.1 cm)
Domestic shipping is included.
